It’s a job you don’t need to do very often, but your plants will thank you for it. The main stuff you need to know about repotting:
- Υou don’t need to repot your plant as soon as you buy it.
- Repot every 2-3 years, to give your plant’s roots more space and fresh soil.
- Only size up to a pot about one or two inches bigger than the old one.
- Only repot into a pot with holes in the bottom, for drainage.
Steps:
1. Get some potting soil and a new pot (about 1-2 inches wider than the old one)
2. Carefully remove your plant from its pot.
3. Loosen the roots with your fingers. Don’t worry if you break some.
4. Put about 1-2 cm of soil in the bottom of the new pot and put your plant on top.
5. Fill around the edges with soil, then give it a good water.
6. Your plant may need some time to settle in, so keep a good eye on it for a couple of weeks. Don’t be tempted to overwater or feed to revive it. It just needs time.
